Spartan Run #2

(From The 20 Minute Fitness Solution)

Run 5 minutes
Repeat twice:
-30/30: Pull-ups (7, 6)
-30/30 Sit-ups (15, 16)
-30/30 Burpees (10, 10)
-30/30 Squats (33, 33)
-30/30 Bear Crawls (substitute Crab Crawls on second circuit)
(30/30 = 30 seconds of work followed by 30 seconds of rest.)
Run 5 minutes

Notes: Fun workout! Scott and I did it together on our sunny patio. The 30 seconds of rest between exercises feel like such a gift - nice to be able to recover.

sounds like a fun workout! how do you think the 30sec-on 30sec-off compared to the tabata (20-on, 10-off)?

Yeah, it was fun! The 30/30 doesn't feel nearly as tough as 20/10 - it doesn't have the same metabolic conditioning component, I'd say. But it's a nice change!

i think i'll try it out. i'm all for less tough these days.... =P

oh, i've been meaning to ask you about climbing. i'm thinking about starting something new and climbing sounds fun. do you do indoor? do people use indoor climbing to train for outdoor climbing? or are they considered two separate sports?

Climbing is *definitely* in the fun category! I'm indoors 98% of the time, and it's pretty good trainin for outdoor, but not a substitution. It's good for your muscles, but also for balance and flexibility and problem solving. Super fun!
