Regionals!

We were seeded 11th and came in 9th. Played 4 good games against Hooray!, Germ Circus, Bunny Noose, and Kru. I felt out of shape and am determined to be in better shape for next season. Really, I'd love to be in better shape for Pada Mosh which is 4 weeks away.

Pilates

I usually feel great after my morning pilates class. I felt miserable today, frustrated that my body wasn't working the way it's supposed to. I think I'm stressed about something... just can't put my finger on what. Going for a run would probably have been a better idea this morning.

Lunchtime pickup

Sunny, dusty, cleatless, scrappy lunchtime pickup. A good way to get out and enjoy the weather. Amy Granger is the best.

WOD 060927 - Cindy - pullups, pushups, squats

Warm up: 500m row (< 2 min)

"Cindy"
Complete as many rounds in 20 minutes as you can of:
5 Pull-ups
10 Push-ups
15 Squats

I completed 9 rounds.
I used 28# of assistance on the pull-ups and feel good about not increasing that over the course of the workout. I did as many push-ups as I could with my elbows close to my body, but it was tough. I never resorted to doing them on my knees though! Squats didn't feel as "tight" as they usually do.

Stretching: Used the foam roller, focused on my IT bands. The back of my left knee has been giving me pain lately, so I figure I should make sure the muscles around it are in good condition.

Last time I did this workout, 2 weeks ago on September 11th, I only got in 7 rounds.
I feel impatient to get back in shape. Impatience is a good motivator. :-)

Recap...

Thursday, September 21st
Ultimate practice
Felt pretty sore and worn out from the Tabata workout, particularly in my quads. I forgot how much I can wear myself out in 16 minutes! Consequently, I had a very low-energy practice. No fun.

Friday 9/22
Pilates in the morning. Quads still super sore, and my core felt weaker than usual. Nice to have a not-so-hard workout day.

Saturday 9/23
Two clique games. We didn't have many women, so I got lots of playing time. I handled a bunch, though, and somehow didn't run all that much. It was good to be on the field, but it didn't feel like a workout.

Sunday 9/24
BRDM practice - really, just a little warm-up and some drills and then a scrimmage against Bond. I didn't feel great... sort of slow... probably due to a late night on Saturday night.

Monday 9/25
I don't think I did anything.

Tuesday 9/26
Felt great today! Did pilates over lunch, and felt strong. Felt energetic and quick at practice. Hooray! It was a short practice, though, since it gets dark so early these days.

Tabata Something Else

Complete 32 intervals of 20 seconds of work followed by ten seconds of rest where the first 8 intervals are pull-ups, the second 8 are push-ups, the third 8 intervals are sit-ups, and finally, the last 8 intervals are squats. There is no rest between exercises.

Arrgh, I can't do pull-ups anymore, and my push-ups are shit. But feeling out of shape makes me recognize how much I gained from doing CrossFit over the summer!

I did about 6 pull-ups, with 30-40 pounds of assistance, in each 20 second interval.
I did less than 10 push-ups, many of them on my knees.
I did about 10 sit-ups.
I did 15 squats. They were the only solid part of the workout.

Pilates

Pilates class in the morning. I felt good today - not too sore from the tournament. Probably because I didn't play all that much...

Sectionals!

4 games on Saturday, 2 on Sunday. Our roster is so large that I really didn't get to play much. But I'm happy with how I played. It's nice to look back and see how much I've improved skill-wise and confidence-wise in the past year.

Messy workout (thrusters, pushups, deadlifts, dips)

Was planning on doing today's WOD:
Three rounds, 21-15- and 9 reps, for time, of:
95 pound Hang squat clean
Handstand push-ups
185 pound Deadlift
Ring Dips

But it didn't happen, for a variety of (not very good) reasons. I ended up doing:

21 thrusters (55#)
15 push-ups
21 deadlifts (65#)
15 dips (20# assist)
500 m row (just over 2:00)
5 pull-ups (40# assist)

I felt weak, but also really uncoordinated. Sectionals is this weekend, so I didn't want to push myself too hard. Regionals is in 2 weeks. After that, I'll see if I can get motivated to be a better crossfitter. I should set concrete goals for myself. Like being able to do an unassisted pull-up!

WOD 060908 (Pull-ups, push-ups, squats)

"Cindy"
Complete as many rounds in 20 minutes as you can of:
5 Pull-ups
10 Push-ups
15 Squats

So... I fell off the wagon there for a while. I was in California for a week. And then I was stressed out or depressed or something. And then I was in Minnesota for a week. But things have settled down, and they're looking up.

Today's workout didn't feel like much of an achievement, beyond the fact that I actually went to the gym. I felt weak and only got in 7 sets, plus 5 pull-ups. But it's a start, and I have faith that I'll gain back the strength I lost.
