Walking
Mom and I walked Max along the upper part of Tischer Creek. Still snowy and beautiful.
My personal fitness log. Advice, support, constructive criticism, motivation, and other feedback welcome!
Mom, Fred, Scott and I walked along the Lakewalk for 2 miles, met my Dad at Hell's Kitchen for a fantastic breakfast, and then walked 2 miles back. Great weather and really good lemon ricotta pancakes.
Scott and I took Max the dog on a beautiful hike along Tischer Creek. We followed a snowshoe trail right along the creek for much of the way. Lots of fresh, untouched snow on the ground and on branches. Absolutely gorgeous.
Scott and I went climbing at the rock gym in Duluth, but we arrived late and didn't have time for many routes. It was fun to climb new surfaces, but I was feeling tired/weak.
We'd scheduled a game of snow ultimate, but only three of us showed up, so we just tossed. Great to be out in the fresh air. Practiced my layouts a little. Snow is so fun!!
We didn't do any other workouts in Florida - Scott killed himself with those burpees and was sore for days afterwards. Today we flew to Minneapolis where my dad picked us up and drove us to Duluth in a snowstorm. We couldn't even get all the way home - we had to park the car at the bottom of the block and walk the last part because it hadn't been plowed and was too steep for our mighty Volvo. After dinner, my dad and my brother and Scott and I all went out to clear the driveway and dig out the car. Uf da. Snow is so fun!
Scott and I did 100 burpees (poolside burpees even!). He finished in 7 minutes, which made me feel bad about finishing in 13 minutes. But at least I finished 2 minutes faster than last week. Was having a hard time breathing, though, just like yesterday. Ugh.

We spent all day yesterday on planes, going from California to Scott's parents' house in Florida. I was exhausted today... but at least I worked out.
I really wanted to go climbing today, but the wall was closed. Grrr. Scott and I did Cindy instead - our old standby.
Had a really good run today! Scott did the loop, with intervals, yesterday, and finished in about 35 minutes. That motivated me to push myself today. I did seven and a half minute-long intervals, and finished in under 39 minutes. I still had to walk for about 30 seconds after each sprint and felt like my chest was *very* tight, but overall I ran faster during the sprints and during the jogs than in previous weeks. Hooray!
Went climbing with Scott, and had a nice, strong night. I can tackle just about all of the 5.10a routes now, so next time (Sunday, I hope) I'll have to start working on a 10b or two...

I was sitting at my desk, wearing long underwear and fleece and but still feeling chilly. I was not in the mood for yet another cup of tea, so I did 100 burpees instead and got warmed up in a hurry!

I went to the gym intending to do the 400m/sumo/thruster WOD, but was foiled when every single treadmill (AND both rowing machines!) were in use. I guess all the students are using them for stress relief. As it turned out, after two rounds of sumos and thrusters, my legs were turning to jelly, so I'm not sure how I would have done on the sprinting anyways. I'll try again tomorrow.
Today's one of those days where it feels so good to be sore! I'll try to get a walk in, or something to loosen up my posterior chain...
Warm-up: 500m row (time - 1:57)
Had a really good run through the arboretum with Scott today! No intervals for me (well, one at the halfway mark), but Scott did six. I think our interval work of late has been working, because we finished the run in 39:13 - a few minutes faster than usual. I felt strong, and I was breathing easier than I have in a while. Yay!

AMRAP in 20 minutes of:
We ran about half of our normal arboretum run today - a little over 2 miles, a little over 23 minutes, 4 intervals (1-minute sprint, 3.5-minute job). Maybe next time I'll experiment with varying amounts of rest times.
Went climbing with Scott tonight, but it wasn't pretty. I was disappointed - I did so well last week, but tonight was dismal. I'm proud of my second run - it's a tough 5.9 that I scrambled to the top of last week, but this week I was much more graceful.

It was beautiful out today - way too nice to spend time in a gym - so Scott and I went running through the Arboretum. The workout was just like my workout on Tuesday, except I had company and my body felt more tired. I did minute-long sprints for the first five rounds and then 30-second sprints for the last two. Finished the loop in 40:45.
